From legacy hardware to fully connected eMobility platforms — see how leading bicycle brands transformed their business with DataLake.
This partnership was initiated through Wanshih Group, Datalake's parent company. Datalake was brought in as the core technology layer — bridging hardware, firmware, and software into a unified connected system across three new Taiwan-exclusive Merida models.
No consumer-facing app — riders had no digital touchpoint after purchase
Dealers lacked diagnostic tools; after-sales support was entirely manual with fragmented data
Smart eBike technology was limited to high-end models, leaving the entry-level market underserved
No scalable platform to extend the connected experience across a wider product range

Developed and published by Datalake under the Merida brand, Merida Plus connects to the bike via Bluetooth to let riders bind their vehicle, adjust assist modes, customise power output per level, track ride data, and navigate with built-in maps. OTA firmware updates keep the motor and controller current — no dealer visit required. Available for both iOS and Android.

Deployed across Merida's Taiwan dealer network, the DST connects directly to the bike and gives technicians instant visibility into system health — reading fault codes, inspecting battery status, checking motor parameters, and verifying firmware. Issues that once required factory escalation are resolved at the shop floor in minutes.
